Dear Friends,
After a day of leader training at the Bethel Church in Morogoro, I preached my last service there on Sunday. I talked about dedicating your gifts and abilities to the Lord to serve and glorify Him. There was an incredible response to the message. In fact the response to the teaching and preaching was amazing throughout our time of ministry there. I pray now that their response will be verified in their actions and that our time in Tanzania will have borne much fruit. I drove to Dar Es Salaam Sunday evening for the all night flight to Amsterdam and on to Edinburgh where I met our friends and my Sandy.
David, Diane, and Tanya remained in Tanzania so as to do a bit of sightseeing and shopping before going back to their respective homes on Tuesday. They were a joy and honor to work with. I hope that in the future, other capable people will want to come and work with us in our various projects for KRM. I pray that we can be a cover and sending agency for many servants of God in mission and ministry.
Tomorrow night we will being our ministry here, meeting with their home group leaders. Thursday and Friday we meet with other leadership and Saturday we are conducting an all-day conference for the church. Moving from Tanzania to Scotland is an interesting dynamic to say the least. Not only do you move from a developing country to a modern society, you change to a completely different spiritual mindset. Tanzania is still in a time of the expansion of Christianity. People are hungry for God and churches are being planted all over the nation. Scotland, on the other hand is completely post-modern with so few people going to church and most are cynical about it. The challenge of spiritual leadership is completely different in the two nations and so the way you train and teach is completely different.
On a personal note, we got word from Athens that our son, Justin had to have an emergency appendectomy last night. He drove himself to the hospital and was alone there until our daughter, Cassie, arrived while he was in surgery. It broke our hearts to be away from him at such a time. But he is a remarkable young man. He is mature and quite capable of taking care of things. I have such respect for him. Nonetheless, Sandy and I would prefer to have been there with him. As we do what God is calling us to do, we ask that you pray for the protection of our family.
We send our love and blessings to you all.
