Sandy and I are settling in our new life at Asbury Seminary. I currently have several roles. The first is to be a pastor to the Beeson Pastors. These are the in-residence pastors who live for one year at the seminary while they complete the academic portion of their degree and prepare for their dissertation work which will be completed after they leave in May. There are also several classes of International Beeson Pastors who come from all over the world for six weeks at a time while they, too, conduct their academic training and dissertation preparation. I also teach in the areas of Preaching and Leadership. I teach two classes for the in-residence students and three with the Internationals. I also administrate the Lifelong Learning Program which seeks to equip significant Christian leaders around the world. Here is one of the things we do in that program. I see a profound need for healing among those leaders and in the churches they serve. So we are conducting the “Restore the Joy” conference in Orlando in May. I hope that all of you who read this will consider attending and encourage others to do the same. I believe it is the beginning of a significant work of God.
I also believe Sandy and I are called to be a blessing to the Asbury Seminary as a whole. Asbury itself is in great need of healing. My purpose is not to try and “make something happen” so much as to bless the people with whom I work and show kindness in humility. Pray for me to that end.
I am continuing to write and praying for publication of that which I have already written. It has taken a great deal of patience as we await the verdict of publishers. You may want to join us in prayer that those writings will be published and released soon. I sense a deep hunger in people and desire the forum to have input in feeding those who are hungering.
Sandy is also finding her place in the life and ministry of the Asbury community. She is developing a wonderful relationship with the spouses of the Beeson Pastors. She led a retreat with them recently on healing prayer. Many of them received healing from the experience and have come to realize what God can do through that ministry. She is getting involved in local Bible studies and is auditing a class on healing with Steve Seamands. She recently received an invitation to come and speak at the Kennesaw United Methodist Church in Georgia.
You will see that we have some important events coming up soon. We appreciate your support in our ministry. We believe that God is opening up doors and will do great things in the near future. Stay with us. We love and you pray for you daily.
